Being First Time Home Owners

You know what people don't tell you before purchasing your first home?  Once you are a homeowner, pure bliss is fixing a broken light fixture.  True happiness is not having to call a plumber because darn it, you DIYed the crap out of it (quite possibly literally).  How our parents ever set up house before the internet era is beyond me...I guess that's what those things called books were for?  As a first time homeowner you will quickly learn the hip and happening place to be is indeed Lowe's and Home Depot.  Always wondered why your Mom or Dad got so excited over power tools and lawn equipment at Christmas?...oh, you know now.  Did you ever make fun of someone attempting to pick out a shade of white paint for their house?  Just you wait.  Once you move into your "gently loved home" you will find yourself itching to fix every dent in the wall or stain on the carpet.  Don't fret, because with trying to keep the yard maintained so the neighbors don't think you are the crazy couple that moved in, and attempting to keep the whole house clean, you create a sort of immunity to the imperfections and just hope that one day they get fixed.  But after a long day's work, and you are sitting with a cold beer/huge glass of wine/giant cocktail in hand, having a tiny slice of the world that is all your own is just lovely (no matter how many bruises or blisters you have...they are just homeowner battle wounds, right?).

Can you tell I had a rough day in the home maintenance department?  BUT I guess since our home is looking so fresh and so clean, clean I'll share a picture of our little slice of the world.  One day I'll do a home tour like all the cool kid blogs out there but until then:

I can't wait to tackle the giant hole that is that mulch bed...one step at a time though.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend and I can't wait to share our e-sesh experience tomorrow!
